Since breast augmentation surgery is a medical procedure like any other, you need to be in good health when you undergo it. Plastic surgeons meeting the following standards to determine whether you’re eligible for an implant: good overall health with no medical issues, being within 30 pounds of your optimal weight, and having realistic expectations for the process.

How to Prepare

The surgeon will ask you to choose between a saline and a silicone implant. Then he will tell you about the process itself and what surgical techniques they can use; this usually involves where the incision is made to insert the implant and where the implant will be located. This will affect the final shape of your breasts so it’s important to discuss this with your doctor.

The Procedure

Breast augmentation can be performed in the surgeon’s own clinic or in a hospital. The surgeon will then make an incision either under your breasts, under your arms or around your nipples. The implant is then inserted either into your pectoral muscles or above them. With that done, your surgeon will then close the incisions with sutures or surgical tape.
